MERCAT DE BROCANTERS, COL·LECCIONISTES I ARTESANS, LLORET DE MAR - 2nd Sunday of the month:
Secondhand, Collectors' & Craft Market, with a good range of books on offer: English, Catalan, Spanish, French, etc at the Plaça Pere Torrent Sunday market. From 10am-2pm.

MERCAT DE TRASTO, RIUDARENES - 3rd Sunday of each month:
Secondhand Market, with mostly Spanish and Calatan secondhand books, and a smattering of English, at the municipal car park, on the main road at the entrace to Riudarenes coming from Sils, From 9am-2pm.

LA DIADA DE ST JORDI, LLORET DE MAR - 23rd April (annual event):
St George's Day Book Fair, English, Catalan & Spanish new & like new gift books, on the seafront Passeig Jacint Verdaguer, from 10am-8pm.

ST STEPHEN'S SPRING FAIR, MADREMANYA - May (annual event):
Mostly English gift books at the Sports Hall, Madremanya.

MERCAT DE LLIBRE VELL DE POESIA, FOLGUEROLES - Sunday closest to 17th May (annual event):
Poetry Market, with poetry in Catalan English & Spanish, and additional literature in Catalan. From 10am-2pm. Festa Verdaguer

FIRA DEL DISC I LLIBRE, LLORET DE MAR - Saturday in late August/early September (annual event):
Book & Disc Fair, with a range of quality books of all sorts on offer, on the seafront Passeig Jacint Verdaguer. From 10am-8pm.

MERCAT DE LLIBRE VELL, BELLPRAT VILA DEL LLIBRE - First weekend of October (annual event):
Book Fair at Catalunya's only "Book Town", with a range of good & curious English, Catalan & Spanish books. (Details at Bellprat Vila Del Llibre).

CHRISTMAS FAIR, GIRONA - early December (annual event):
Mostly English gift books at EOI, c/Josep Viader i Moliner, Girona, afternoon.

ST STEPHEN'S CHRISTMAS FAIR, MADREMANYA - early December (annual event):
Mostly English gift books at the Sports Hall, Madremanya.

SHOP & SEARCH, OR BROWSE ONLINE - Any time:
We can't take everything to market and there are books for collectors from antiquarian to new in English, Spanish, Catalan, with some in German, French, Italian and Dutch.

La Diada de St Jordi (St George's Day) is the 23rd April. Not only is St Jordi the patron saint of England (and many other countries), he is also the patron saint of Catalunya. Celebrated for centuries in Catalunya as a day for lovers, with men giving a rose to their loved one, it is also the date on which both William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes were born (in different years). It was therefore adopted by catalans as a day for the ladies to return the gifting of roses by buying a book for their man. It is now one of the region's major festivals and the busiest day of the year for many booksellers.
